Sensex vaults 905 points as Fed holds rates, adding Rs 4.72 lakh crore in a day
The Sensex closed 905.01 points, or 1.24 per cent, higher at 74,151.04 and the Nifty gained 237.90 points to 22,936.75 on Thursday. The market value of BSE-listed firms rose by Rs 4,72,033.20 crore, with Adani Ports the top gainer.
Market claws back 1,000 points from the morning's fall, but the rupee slips for a third session
The Sensex closed 482.92 points higher at 73,606.75 and the Nifty at 22,753.20 on Monday, snapping a four-session losing streak after both indices fell sharply in early trade. The rupee, though, slipped 25 paise to close at 95.19 against the dollar, its third straight fall, as Brent crude held near $115 a barrel.
