About this scheme

The "Tharparkar Vanshavali Chayan Yojana", implemented in January 2020 under the "Rashtriya Gokul Mission" by the Rajasthan Livestock Development Board, aims to conserve and promote the Tharparkar cattle breed, produce bulls with superior genetic traits, enhance the milk production capacity of dairy animals, and thereby increase the income of livestock farmers.

Benefits

  • Milk Recording and Measurement: Milk production of selected high-quality cows is recorded and their milk yield is measured. - Free Artificial Insemination: When high-quality cows come into heat, they are artificially inseminated free of cost using semen from high-quality bulls of the same breed. - Selection and Development of Bulls: Male calves produced under the scheme undergo pedigree evaluation and disease testing. Suitable calves are purchased from livestock farmers at an appropriate price and developed as bulls at the Calf Rearing Centre. - Semen Production: Developed high-quality bulls are utilized at semen stations for the production of semen. - Improvement of Cattle Breed and Farmers’ Income: The produced semen is used to improve the genetic traits of non-descript cattle in the state. This is expected to improve the productivity of cattle and increase the income of livestock farmers.
