Khell Tiatr Festival

The Khell Tiatr Festival is a cultural initiative of the Art, Culture and Museums Department, Government of Goa, aimed at preserving and promoting the rich Goan tradition of Khell Tiatr. Participation is invited through press notes published in local newspapers. Eligible participants include traditional Goan Khell Tiatr performing groups actively engaged in the propagation and promotion of this art form. The selection of 5 to 7 Khell Tiatrs is carried out by a designated Sub-Committee of the Tiatr Advisory Committee or by the authorities of the Kala Academy.

Assistance Available:
Selected participating institutions are provided with a lump sum amount of ₹7,000/-, along with 80% of the total proceeds from ticket sales of their respective play. Additionally, the auditorium is made available free of charge, along with the available and permissible infrastructural facilities required for the performance.

1. The applicant should be a traditional Goa Khell Tiatr performing group with a track record of staging Khell Tiatrs.
2. The applicant should be actively involved in the propagation and promotion of the Khell Tiatr art form in Goa.

Step 1 : Write the application on plain paper, clearly stating your interest in participating in the Khell Tiatr Festival. Include your contact details such as telephone number and communication address.
Step 2 : Enclose a copy of the script of the Khell Tiatr, details of the cast and crew (credits), and any other relevant information supporting the authenticity and traditional value of the play.
Step 3 : Make sure the Khell Tiatr is written by a Goan playwright and retains the traditional essence of the art form. The play should be between 2 to 3 hours in duration to qualify.
Step 4 : Submit the complete application along with documents to the Member Secretary, Kala Academy Goa within the stipulated deadline.

4. Contact details, including telephone number and communication address.
5. Script must be written by a Goan playwright and retain the flavour and essence of traditional Khell Tiatr.
6. The Khell Tiatr play should have a duration of minimum 2 hours and maximum 3 hours.
