Voter registration drive at polling stations in Maharashtra

To ensure that no eligible citizen in the state is deprived of the right to vote, the Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra, on behalf of the Election Commission of India, is running a special voter registration drive across the state. As part of the drive, special camps have been organised at every polling station in the state on October 17, 18, 24 and 25, 2026. Citizens can file applications until October 26, 2026, to check their names in the draft voter list, add a new name or make necessary corrections.

Booth-level officers (BLOs) will help at polling stations To make this statewide drive effective, the entire administrative machinery is in place. This includes:

36 district election officers across the state

288 electoral registration officers

7,100 assistant electoral registration officers

1,00,253 booth-level officers (BLOs) are working on the ground.

On the days of the special camps, these booth-level officers will be present at polling stations. They will guide citizens on checking their names in the draft voter list, on fresh registration and on filling forms for corrections.

Which form to fill for which work? Citizens can apply online as well as offline using the following forms:

Form No. 6: To add a new name to the voter list, for first-time registrants or citizens whose names are not in the draft list.

Form No. 7: To request deletion of a wrong entry or the name of a deceased person from the voter list.

Form No. 8: For changing address, correcting a name or date of birth, getting a new digital voter identity card (EPIC), or registering as a voter with a disability.

Voter registration and correction is a continuous process. However, in view of the upcoming elections, applications for corrections to the draft list must be filed within the prescribed time.

Toll-free helpline '1950' started for help Citizens facing technical problems while filling applications, or doubts about a name in the voter list, can call the toll-free number '1950'.

Citizens can also contact the district-level help centre at the office of the District Election Officer, or the office of the Electoral Registration Officer of the concerned assembly constituency, during office hours. Details of district-wise help centres and helpline numbers are available on the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer, [https://ceoelection.maharashtra.gov.in/ceo/Districtvoterhelpline.aspx](https://ceoelection.maharashtra.gov.in/ceo/Districtvoterhelpline.aspx).

The office of the Chief Electoral Officer has appealed to eligible citizens to visit their nearest polling station, confirm their name in the voter list, and take part in the democratic process by filing their claims and objections before October 26, 2026.
