Lucknow: A revolt has erupted in Om Prakash Rajbhar's Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) in Uttar Pradesh, with dozens of office-bearers and workers from Chandauli district announcing their resignations ahead of the 2027 assembly elections.
The resigning leaders accused the leadership of moving away from the party's founding principles and ignoring those who built the organisation over the years. They also questioned the party's proposed candidate selection for 2027.
Deepak Rajbhar, general secretary of the party's Varanasi division youth wing, said workers who spent 20 to 24 years strengthening the party were being sidelined. "The community whose support brought us to power still struggles for basic facilities," he said.
Among those quitting is Bablu Rajbhar, the youth division president and a representative of a minister. He alleged that office-bearers met Om Prakash Rajbhar in Ambedkar Nagar on the 16th to discuss the organisation's weakening position, but the leadership did not reach out afterwards.
The resigning leaders claimed that workers who collected donations and campaigned in villages were not even given a chance to meet the leadership, while influential individuals received greater attention.
Deepak Rajbhar pointed to the 2022 alliance with the Samajwadi Party, when the SBSP contested 16 seats, and asked how many candidates from the Rajbhar community were fielded. He feared a repeat in 2027. Those who quit described the development as only the beginning and warned that more members could leave.
The SBSP is the main political party of the Rajbhar community and has, at different times, been with the Samajwadi Party and the NDA. The revolt surfaced amid organisational preparations for the 2027 polls. The resigning leaders say workers who build the organisation are given no place in decision-making.
Neither Om Prakash Rajbhar nor the SBSP leadership has responded to the allegations so far.
