Lucknow: A rebellion has surfaced in Om Prakash Rajbhar's Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly election. In Chandauli district, dozens of office-bearers and workers announced their collective resignations.
Deepak Rajbhar, the party's Varanasi division chief general secretary of the youth wing, alleged that the leadership had strayed from the party's founding principles. He said workers who had spent 20 to 24 years strengthening the organisation were not getting due recognition.
Among those announcing their exit are Bablu Rajbhar, the youth division president and a minister's representative. He said that even after leaders built their political identity on the support of the Rajbhar community, many in the community still struggle for basic facilities such as housing, drains and paved roads.
Bablu claimed that on the 16th, concerns about the organisation's weakened position and the need for reform were raised before Rajbhar in Ambedkar Nagar, but the leadership did not reach out afterwards. Deepak questioned how many Rajbhar community candidates were fielded on the 16 seats the party contested in the 2022 SP-SBSP alliance.
The SBSP has formally claimed 33 assembly seats within the NDA for 2027. Neither Rajbhar nor the party leadership has responded to the allegations so far.
The SBSP is a constituent of the ruling NDA in Uttar Pradesh, and its chief, Om Prakash Rajbhar, holds the Panchayati Raj portfolio in the state cabinet. The resigning office-bearers described the development as only the beginning and warned that more members could leave the party in the coming days.
