Lucknow: Union home minister Amit Shah is expected to kick-start the BJP's campaign for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections at a state executive meeting proposed for October 30 and 31, party sources said.
Shah is expected to address members of the state executive, setting the tone for the party's preparations in a state that remains central to its national strategy. BJP national president Nitin Nabin is also likely to attend for a day.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath, both deputy chief ministers, state president Pankaj Chaudhary, state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal and UP in-charge Vinod Tawde are expected to attend, along with members of the state executive. The meeting is expected to discuss organisational preparedness, coordination between the party and the government, and the roadmap to 2027.
Beyond the executive meeting, Shah is also expected to hold meetings with booth-level workers from different regions of the state in the coming weeks. The outreach is in line with his focus on grassroots organisation in poll-bound states.
The BJP's early organisational push signals an effort to consolidate its position in a state where it faces a fierce contest. The party has been building its booth-level network as it prepares for the assembly polls. The state executive meeting is expected to bring together senior state leaders, elected representatives and organisational functionaries. Party leaders say the early meetings will help assess organisational strength across regions and take the election machinery down to the booth level well before the 2027 contest. The meeting is expected to firm up the party's poll roadmap.
