Mumbai: Udta Teer opened softer than expected and then found its feet over the weekend. Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan's spy comedy collected ₹8.10 crore net on Sunday from 6,020 shows, according to trade estimates — 11.7% up on Saturday's ₹7.25 crore and nearly double Friday's ₹4.10 crore.

Released on October 23, the film got 6,265 shows on day one but filled only 13% of seats. Saturday's show count dropped to 6,164 while occupancy rose to 21%. Sunday's shows fell further to 6,020 and occupancy climbed to 25%.

Three days in, domestic net stands at ₹19.45 crore and domestic gross at ₹23.08 crore. Overseas has added ₹4.50 crore, taking worldwide gross to ₹27.58 crore. Sunday alone sold 3,61,245 tickets, and total footfalls have reached 8,66,929.

The film is directed by Aakash Kaushik and produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla and Apoorva Mehta's Dharma Productions with Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain's Sikhya Entertainment.

It arrived alongside three other Hindi releases on Friday — Kaushal Oza's children's film Little Thomas with Gulshan Devaiah and Rasika Dugal, Anuj Saini's Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar with six newcomers, and Karan Rawal's Tu Hai Meri Kiran with Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal. Udta Teer's opening was the biggest of the lot.

The film was originally set for October 9 and was pushed by a fortnight, a decision attributed at the time to the box office run of Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3.

Around it, Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 collected ₹18.60 crore net on its 11th day, taking domestic net to ₹383 crore and worldwide gross to ₹666.30 crore. Drishyam 3 made ₹2.65 crore on day 23 for ₹365.90 crore net, overtaking Sunny Deol's Border 2 (₹362.76 crore) to become Bollywood's second-highest grosser of 2026 in India.

The Telugu film Ranabaali, with Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, crossed ₹50 crore on its ninth day with ₹2.80 crore. The Kannada Premada Oorali is at ₹97.47 crore, ₹2.53 crore short of the ₹100-crore mark.

The next big date is November 5, when Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, arrives. That leaves Udta Teer 12 clear days.

Holding occupancy on a working Monday is the real test now, trade watchers say.
