Mumbai: A one-night thriller headlined by Manoj Bajpayee, a biopic of India's first professional woman sumo wrestler, and a Telugu period drama starring Nani are among the titles arriving on streaming platforms this week.
Gajab Raat, which premieres on Netflix on October 23, unfolds over a single night when one decision sets off a chain of events. Bajpayee plays a policeman caught between personal gain and his own sense of right. The film is directed by Ritesh Shah and produced by Neeraj Pandey, and was earlier titled Ghooskhor Pandat before a controversy over the name led the makers to change it. Divya Dutta, Akshay Oberoi, Saqib Saleem and Nushrratt Bharuccha are part of the cast.
On ZEE5, also on October 23, comes Sumo Didi, a sports drama based on the life of Hetal Dave, described as the country's first professional female sumo wrestler. Directed by Jayant Rohatgi and starring Shriyam Bhagnani, the film follows a young woman who faces body-shaming at home while chasing a place at the World Sumo Championship.
Prime Video's Chaar Yaar, out on October 23, is an eight-episode crime drama set in early-2000s Mumbai. It follows four middle-class friends who stumble into the underworld and find the police closing in. The cast includes Purav Jha, Naman Jain, Saqib Ayub and Prayrak Mehta.
Nani's Telugu action drama The Paradise begins streaming on Netflix on October 22, four weeks after its September 24 theatrical release. Directed by Srikanth Odela, it is set in 1980s Secunderabad and features music by Anirudh Ravichander. Netflix's Southverse line-up also adds the Malayalam time-loop comedy Dhoomakethu and the Tamil crime drama Dorothy, directed by Karthik Subbaraj and starring Keerthy Suresh.
On JioHotstar, the Telugu thriller Varam arrives on October 22, and the second episode of Koffee With Karan 9, featuring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, streamed on October 21.
