Mumbai: The halls are no longer full. The ticket counter has not gone quiet. Drishyam 3: The Conclusion added ₹75 lakh net in India on Tuesday, its 33rd day in cinemas.
That figure came from 3,050 shows, a 36.4% jump over Monday's ₹55 lakh. Collections had dipped at the start of the week and recovered the next day, the pattern of a film running on evening and night shows.
Cumulative India gross is now ₹453.45 crore, with net at ₹378.65 crore. Overseas business added ₹15 lakh on day 33, taking overseas gross to ₹133.05 crore.
Add it up and the worldwide gross is ₹586.50 crore. The film is ₹13.50 crore away from the ₹600 crore mark.
Tuesday's ticket sales were an estimated 64,393, taking total tickets sold across the run past 1.65 crore.
Occupancy for the Hindi 2D version was 12.28% across the day. Morning shows ran at 6.50%, afternoons at 10.92%, evenings at 12.75% and night shows at 17.67%. The night number is the one an exhibitor reads first: the film is still pulling people after dinner.
The week-on-week curve shows how the run has thinned. Week one brought ₹245.50 crore net in India. Week two fell to ₹87.50 crore, a 64.4% drop. Week three was ₹28.85 crore, week four ₹11.15 crore, and the first five days of week five ₹5.65 crore.
These numbers are compiled from public and industry sources and are approximate. Official studio data can move them.
The plot picks up years after Vijay Salgaonkar evaded the law. An old investigation resurfaces, Meera Deshmukh returns with revenge rather than justice on her mind, and a Crime Branch officer sets about testing Vijay's alibis.
₹600 crore is now a matter of a few days. If the film gets there, it joins the year's biggest grossers. If it stalls, week six brings a new slate of releases and the arithmetic gets harder.
Ajay Devgn's thriller has already done what most films cannot: it is still selling tickets in its fifth week.
