Raipur: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will attend the closing ceremony of Chhattisgarh's three-day Rajyotsav on Tuesday at the Rajyotsav Ground in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, where the foundation-day event begins at 5.30 pm.
Shah's schedule is packed. At 2.40 pm he will inaugurate the Artemis Shanti Hospital on Mandi Road in Pandri, Raipur. At 4.30 pm he will open the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Park in Sector 16 of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar.
The centrepiece of the visit is the release of the 33rd instalment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, a direct bank transfer scheme for married women, to be disbursed in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
Sai has previously described Chhattisgarh's 26-year journey and cited progress in agriculture, industry, education and health, along with the government's stated commitment to carrying the benefits of central schemes to every eligible person.
The first two days of the festival featured cultural programmes and exhibitions of government schemes.
For the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, the event offers a platform to foreground welfare delivery ahead of elections. Opposition parties have questioned the spending on such celebrations.
Security has been tightened across Raipur for the visit, and the administration has announced parking arrangements and route diversions around the venue.
The amount of the Mahtari Vandan instalment and the number of beneficiaries have not been officially released and are expected to be announced at the event. Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh on November 1, 2000, and the state is marking its 26th foundation year. The three-day festival began on November 1.
