BJP representatives on the ground; relief flows in
Rain failure has caused heavy losses to kharif crops, and farmers are in financial trouble. In this grave situation, the BJP's elected representatives have stepped forward directly instead of making mere announcements. The one month's salary that MLA Jitesh Antapurkar has announced will go towards immediate relief for drought-hit families and relief work.
Earlier, Pratap Rao Patil Chikhalikar, a senior leader and MLA from Loha-Kandhar, had also decided to donate one month's honorarium for drought relief, out of commitment to farmers. The sensitivity shown by the BJP's two MLAs is proving to be a source of relief for the farming community.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's immediate relief; Rs 25 lakh from MLA funds
Facing this drought, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who leads the state government, has put the administration on a war footing. As many as 14 of Nanded district's 16 talukas have been included in the drought-hit list, and the government is committed to getting all official concessions to farmers promptly.
Notably, under Fadnavis's leadership, the government has given MLAs special permission to spend up to Rs 25 lakh directly from their local development funds (MLA Fund) to quickly address water and fodder problems in drought-hit talukas. This swift decision has made it much easier to arrange drinking water and cattle fodder at the local level.
Accurate panchnamas and BJP's follow-up for quick relief
Standing firmly with the farmers of his constituency, MLA Jitesh Antapurkar said: "The BJP and the government under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have always stood firmly behind the farmer. We are personally pursuing the administration to ensure accurate panchnamas of every damaged field, prompt compensation and drought concessions reach farmers on time. We will not sit idle until the farmer is pulled out of this crisis."
