The scheme "Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PMAJAY): Skill Development" is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. In Gujarat, the scheme is implemented by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Govt. of Gujarat. The "Skill Development" component of the scheme aims to reduce poverty of the Scheduled Castes communities by generation of additional employment opportunities through skill development. The scheme provides short-term and long-term skill development training programs. The applicant, who is the Scheduled Caste person seeking training, must ensure they are not covered under the Scheme of Pradhan Mantri Dakshta Aur Kushalta Sampann Hitgrahi for these skill development activities.
Benefits
- Up-skilling/Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): The duration of the training programmes will be 32 to 80 hours and spaced over up to one month.- Short Term Courses (focused on women and self-employment): The duration will normally be 200 hours to 600 hours and up to five months, or as stipulated in National Occupational Standards and Qualification Packs.- Entrepreneurial Development Programmes (EDP): The duration will normally be 80 hours (10 days).- Long Term Courses (for global class skills for those educated up to 10th class or more): The duration of the training programmes will be six months and above and usually up to one year.
The trained candidates should undergo third party assessment and certification after successful completion of the training programme.
Who is Eligible
- The applicant must be a resident of Gujarat.
- The applicant must be from the Scheduled Caste community.
- For Long Term Courses, the applicant must have passed 10th Standard.
How to Apply
Offline
Step 1:**** Candidate Mobilization and Outreach
The State and/or District Administration, often working with the Training Partners, initiates mobilization through various means of publicity. The implementing agency is required to issue advertisements in print media and social media.
Step 2:**** Vetting and Interest Assessment
Identification of the beneficiary is carried out carefully by the implementing agency after assessing the interest of the candidates in the skill proposed to be imparted.
Step 3:**** Formal Selection and Enrollment
The final selection of candidates is formalized through Selection Committee Meetings. Once selected, the candidate is enrolled in the chosen training program.
Step 1:**** Training Completion and Certification
- The selected candidate must successfully complete the assigned training program, which may vary in duration from 32 hours (Up-skilling/Recognition of Prior Learning) to six months or more (Long Term Courses).
- Following successful completion, the trained candidate must undergo third party assessment and certification. For Up-skilling Programmes, the outcome is the enhancement of earnings of livelihood as self-certified by the beneficiaries.
Step 2:**** Placement Facilitation and Financial Linkage
The trained candidate should be facilitated for placement in wage employment or self-employment by the implementing agency to meet the outcome targets (e.g., 70% placement required for Short Term and Long Term Training Programmes).
