About Procedure for Admission in Government Child Care Institution, Government Communication Home and Open Shelter Home
The scheme “Procedure for Admission in Government Child Care Institution, Government Communication Home, and Open Shelter Home” is implemented by the Women Welfare Department, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to support orphaned, destitute, abandoned, neglected, and vulnerable children by providing them with clothing, food, accommodation, medical care, counselling, education, training, and other essential facilities.
Benefits
In the institutions and homes, children are provided with free facilities such as clothing, food, accommodation, medical care, counselling, entertainment, training, and education. Along with these facilities, children are also provided day care facility based on their needs.
Who is Eligible
- In Government Child Care Institutions, orphaned/destitute children, abandoned children, surrendered children, exploited and neglected children, and victimized children are admitted.
- In Government Communication Homes, children who are in conflict with the law or have violated the law are admitted.
- In Open Shelter Homes, destitute children living on the roadside, beggars, ragpickers, and children from slums who do not attend school are admitted.
How to Apply
Offline
Through the Child Welfare Committee and the Juvenile Justice Board, concerned children are admitted to the respective institutions. Complaints can also be lodged through the toll-free number 1098. At present, the following institutions/homes have been established in the state:
- Government Child Care Institutions: A total of 05 institutions established in Dehradun, Haridwar, and Almora.
- Government Communication Homes: A total of 10 homes established in Almora, Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Uttarkashi, Pauri, and Udham Singh Nagar.
- Open Shelter Homes: A total of 07 homes established in Dehradun, Nainital, and Haridwar.
Documents Required
- Application/Referral Order from Child Welfare Committee or Juvenile Justice Board
- Birth certificate / Age proof of the child (if available)
- Medical fitness certificate or health check-up report of the child (if available)
- Police report / FIR / General Diary entry (in cases of abandoned or missing children) (if available)
- Photographs of the child (passport size)
- Any other documents as required
